Get to know Jae!

i tried to think of something to share this week and it came to me quit easily this time.

i'm the biggest mother's girl in the world. a lot of my girl friends are such daddy's girls, but i'm definitely a mothers girl. my mother is my life or at least a big part of it. i guess its because she's always been there for me and has definitely picked me up several times. i spend more time with her than anyone else in my life, the weekends are our fun time. my dad actually yells a little that i steal his wife on the weekends and he never has anytime with her. we have so much in common, yet we're different in big ways...i guess it just works out. she has instilled so much in me and i'm truly thankful for it. our relationship means so much to me that i want a little girl so that i can have the same type of relationship with her. i think God for giving me the mother that He did although i fuss a little from time to time.

ok, enough with this mushy stuff, i'm tearing up a little.

love and hugs,
Jae

TV Talk

Its that time again...let's dish about the shows dominating our TV time lately.

Jerseylicious- i absolutely love this show. i guess like a lot of people shows centered in Jersey fascinate me so much so that i think i'm going to take a trip to the shore this summer. i'm not a fan of Doria and the ways she goes about speaking to Olivia, although the smokey looks do get old to me. i'm happy that Frankie and Gigi seem to be a great place and that they have so much communication in their relationship now. i wish these two lots of luck in the future. i'm really ready for someone to blow the whistle on Tracy's and the fact that she's still working for Alexa. she such a bully to me, however she does make me laugh all the time.

Jersey Shore- we were blessed with 2 espisodes this this week and boy was i happy about it. as i've already stated i can't seem to get enough of this show, it never gets old to me. Deena or Blast in a Glass is so funny to me, she seems like a person that could get along with anyone while being a ball of fun. i laughed so hard when she fell off of the stage, not once but 3 times...walk away from the alcohol, girl . i was happy that Sammi apologized to Snooki and Deena, but disappointed that she didn't try to say anything to Jenni, let it go sweetie, let it go! how big of a douche is Tom? i'm happy that Jenni is finally away from him, but i can't believe he took money from her and her beloved hard drive. next episode looks great, looks like Sammi is going to have the big meltdown that i knew she would. *waves* by hater!

ATL Housewives- umm...did NeNe really get on the tour bus and go the heck off on Kim?!? i don't condone the way she went about it, but she had some valid points to her arguments. Kandi is a patient soul to put up with Kim and Sweetie...btw, who the heck is Sweetie and why does she take bulls!$t from Kim? Peter and Cynthia really have some stuff going on that i hope gets settled quickly for every one's sake involved. i would be a little upset as well if my fiance decided to close up shop that i have invested in without telling me...umm Peter that was her money as well. oh, well i can't wait for next weeks episode.

Basketball Wives-do i really feel like going here with this post. these chicks have a lot going on and seem to be what we would call "messy". i was good to see Jen and Tami makeup and it looks like Jen was the one who contacted Tami, which was even better. i agree with Royce being mad at pretty much all of her friends for not supporting her and her charity event, i hope they work it out soon. i guess, the saga with Jen's husband/ex-husband is just heating up and there seems to be much more in store for us when it comes to those 2. i understand where he's coming from, but i guess it would be nice to see a little effort on his side. he seems so "over it", but then in the same breath he asks her what she wants to do. so maybe i'm a little confused, does he want out or not?

Bad Girls Club - i threw this one in at the last minute only because i feel like i had a little bit to say. i can't believe they started this season with so much chaos and drama. this show has become less about changing for the better and more about acting crazy on TV. i'm not  sure if i'll continue to watch this one, but i figured i should mention it.

whelp, that about sums up TV watching for me this week. what have you been watching?

happy reading,
Jae

Denim Smoke and Miami Nights

I recently purchased a couple of the Wet 'n Wild Spring eyeshadow palettes and came straight home to play a little. I'm going to post a review soon, but wanted to share the looks I came up with last night. The funny this is I didn't like the colorful look when I first did it, but after it settled I LOVED it because it reminded me a lot of the Miami night scape.

I think my lash is falling off!

No, I didn't clean up the fall out!
Love and hugs,
Jae

Challenged!

I decided to give myself a little challenge to start wearing more makeup Mon-Fri to work. I rarely wear makeup although I seem to buy it like all of the beauty companies are going out of business! I love sleep and like to snooze until I can't snooze anymore which cuts out on my beauty time in the morning. The sad thing is, I rarely even wear lipgloss *I know right* which is crazy considering that I used to have a tube glued to my hand (my lipgloss is popping). The challenge I've set forth is to wear some sort of makeup (eye, lip, brows, cheek...anything) at least 3 weekdays per week for at least 30 days. I'll document my progress along the way...which me luck! Let's hope I can make it, keep me honest.

Jae

Get to know Jae!

I thought I'd start a series of "Get to know Jae" posts. I always like when bloggers let you in a little and talk about thinks other than the main theme of their blogs. I'll be posting little tidbits weekly until I either run out of things to share or it gets a little old, but I think it'll take us several weeks to get to that point. Please share and some interesting facts about yourself as well.

So...let's jump right in. I have a few OCD's that aren't to the point that I need to start talking to someone, but are worth keeping an eye on! My biggest one is the fact that I don't, repeat DON'T like my food to touch. I've met others like me, but I'd say more people look at me weird when they find out. Its something about juices from other foods touching-like green beans and mashed potatoes. These foods should not be anywhere near each other. When I was younger I actually used to eat one thing at a time, which I'm sure is why it takes me years to eat! I guess I'd say I've made progress by letting everything be on the same plate. Now, I often get questions like what about salads or sandwiches, and my answer is "if it makes sense to me to let them touch then its fine". I love sandwhiches and salads and the concept of each makes sense to me. Now that chicken bowl thing at KFC does not make sense to me, mixing corn, potatoes, chicken, gravy and cheese would never work for me. I'll keep working on this one, but I've been like this for 25+ years and I'm not sure that I can break out of it now...

There you have it, the first installment in "Get to know Jae", I hope it shed a little more light on the lady behind the blog and shows I'm more than makeup and TV.

Love and Hugs,
Jae

Review - MAC Stacked 2! Pigments

I went to my local CCO Tuesday for a little retail therapy although I told myself I was just "looking" I walked out of the store with a little white baggy! They didn't have many new items, but I did find the Stacked 2! pigments which I believe came out with the Spring Color Forecast collection in early 2010. I love pigments (although they can be messy) and had thought about purchasing when the collection was out, but I wait too long and they were gone...boo. I tried them on my hand and loved all of the colors in Stacked 2! and the vibrant purple in Stacked1! *I'm not big on pinks so 1 didn't appeal to me*. I noticed the tester was really chunky and glittery, but i figured it was just the tester and the new package I bought would be fine. Like in a kid in a candy store I immediately went home and started to play with my new pigments and quickly realized something was terribly different than the others I own. They were indeed really chunky, cakey and chalked full of glitter...not the fine glitter, but really big chunks of glitter. Thinking I could work with it, I proceeded to try the colors on my eye area and quickly noticed the amount of fallout *some is expected with loose shadows* all over my face. I had more product on my face than my eye area and the same happened after applying them wet. After taking forever to get decent coverage I realized the colors were really pretty *the golden olive was my favorite* and thought the problem was with me and my patience *which i need to work on*. Soon after I realized my right eye was having a huge issue and I could barely see out of it with the tears streaming down my face *dramatic right???*. At first I still thought it had to be something else, but when I couldn't open my eye I knew it was time to take the shadows off. As soon as I did everything was FINE. Even with that evidence I was still convinced I could make them work, somehow. Then my frugal side kicked in and convinced me to take them back in exchange for one of the Holiday sets from 2009. Needless to say, my experience with the set was aweful. Do any of you have Stacked 2!? If so, let me know your thoughts.

Jae

TV Talk

so i decided i would write about the shows i watch week by week instead of individually as i don't want them to consume my posts. this post will include items from last week and this week since i just got this bright idea! no time for small talk since i was to make this short and sweet.

Jersey Shore Season 3 - can we say started off with a BANG! i don't know why, but this show is a must watch for me, i'm sure it has something to do with that cute DJ who i would love to meet one day along with some of the others. i, along with the other housemates couldn't understand why a couple would choose a room with 3 beds...do you think they really like to screw with others that much that they don't THINK before acting??? i also can't seem to move past the fact that Sammi really thinks she did something to Jenni during the fight in Miami...hun, you got 1 hit in and i'm not even sure it was a good one. so far i like the new girl Deena-she does remind me a lot of Snooki, but i like Snooki as well so i'm down to watch a little more. From the previews it looks like we're in for another jam packed season of foolishness thanks i'm sure i'll watch all  the way.

Basketball Wives - this past sunday was pretty interesting. 1-i couldn't figure out why Evelyn and Jen were so pressed to be in the limelight, so much so, that they crashed a charity event. really, yeah it was a boring event, but you weren't on the list which tells me you knew you were going to start trouble instead of going for the right reasons. did they donate anything? did the scene with Tammi and Jen take anyone else back to Tammi's Real World days?!? she totally flipped out and showed Jen she is not to be messed with. i'm not one for violence...especially in public and at a charity event, but i do think Jen could have stood a little tongue lashing, can you tell she's not my favorite?!? i'm happy to see Shaunie actually try to stop this fight instead of jumping in or starting it...thanks for coming back to the "normal" side. i guess we need to keep watching as i'm sure this situation didn't end with that episode.

The Game - how excited was everyone for this show to return. i remember watching the reruns over and over and over and never being tired or bored of watching them. i watch so many reality shows that its a welcomed changed to my regular routine. the first episode was great almost too packed with greatness for me..i hope mara brock has a lot more where that came from! i love how most of the characters are the same with the exception of Brittany, i liked the old one. i can't believe the situation with Melanie, Derwin and the DNA test...can you say too much Melanie! while watching i was trying to decide what i would have done in her situation and i would like to say love the kid as if he were my own. i can't wait to see how this now plays out and what they will say to Jenae..oops! i'm going to need medschool to calm down and be happy in her marriage.

well that's it for this installment. let me know what you think and if your suggestions for other great shows.
happy reading,
Jae

My Take on Mark/Avon Brushes

I’ve had my Mark/Avon brushes for about a year and decided to share how I feel about them in a video. Overall, I think the brushes are really good as an inexpensive alternative for someone wanting to building their collection and for the working professional. I actually reach for a couple of the brushes more than their MAC counterparts and some I don’t reach for at all. I purchased most of these brushes prior to my mother being a representative and I purchased a few from her *nothing was free*. If you would like to purchase from my mother Click Here.

I hope you enjoy the video, I decided not to edit it too much as I wanted you to see the real Jae! To see the video for this makeup look Click Here. Make sure to leave me a message if you have these brushes or plan to purchase them.

Love and hugs,

Jae

Basketball Wives Season 2

so...as you know i watch waaaaaayy too much TV for my own good-as my grandmother would say! i watched season 1 of Basketball Wives and found it to pretty entertaining and not too over the top, other than the show only featuring 1 wife ( go figure) and the drama with Shaunie and Gloria. i actually follow Evelyn on twitter (i think she's going to be deleted soon) and noticed she's gotten a lot more vocal since being in the lime light and i couldn't figure what caused it until i started watching season 2. let's see where to start....

Shaunie - i was happy to see her dating again...although dude totally does not look like her type...maybe i shouldn't say that, i don't know her! i guess he just looks totally opposite of Shaq and really young. i was also happy to see that she would be on the show a lot more this season-she seems to be a great mediator last season and i knew they would need that again. i soon realized she was a lot different this season than the last, which also seems to be the case with most of the ladies. i couldn't believe her blow up with Gloria after crashing a lunch (who does that), but i was happy to see Gloria stand up to them. that was the point i knew Shaunie was not the same as last season and needs some reality...i hope you come back girl *in my Chelsea Handler voice*!

Jennifer - i really just wanted to get her out of the way...what a bore!?! i try not to be a judgemental person, but when you put it out there for us to see an opinion will be formed. i'm really over her and her drawn out marriage situation...either you leave or you stay, but either please stop talking about it. Eric played her on the show, I guess she thought he would beg her stay, but homie made it clear that he could go either way...how sucky is that! she really seems like a follower who Gloria also carried during the lunch crash *btw, how far is Orlando from Miami...its waaaaayy too far to drive for that type of bulls!*t!

Royce - i actually like Royce and hope her and ole dude make it. she seems really happy and actually talks with sense most of the time. i understand where she's coming from with the Suzie/Evelyn mess and the fact that Evelyn needs to show up and shut up!

Suzie - she seems cool from what i see on TV, but from season 1 she showed she doesn't put up with BS which is why i'm surprised she's letting Evelyn play her like that. i think its time to throw a drank...yes drank...in her face to see if she's going to lay hands on you. i wish her well in her pursuit of a new career and with her cute little NFL guy.

Evelyn - i'm over her this season and wish she would sat down somewhere! she's so loud and unreasonable. this Suzie situation seems so blown up for TV that its ridiculous. i guess she also thought she was going to punk Gloria who gave her a little taste of her sharp tongue along with everyone else at the table. i wish the Evelyn from season 1 would make another appearance because she was spunky but not ridiculous.

Gloria - okkk...you really aren't taking any crap are you? i'm interested in the reason the marriage didn't go down like everyone else, but i'm happy she didn't back down from the "others". i was on the fence last season, but i'm starting to come around about her. i definitely think Shaunie's beef with her over the situation with Gloria's sister and Shaq has nothing to do with Gloria and should be taken up with the parties directly involved. keep doing you boo..."that's what's up" *twists wrists*...i couldn't resist!

Tammie - i've been a Real World fan forever and had mixed feelings about her joining this show, but after the first couple of episodes she looks like a good fit. i'm sorry to hear about the trials she went through after getting separated, how can her ex allow things to go down like that with the mother of his kids. judging by the previews it looks like she's going to hand Evelyn and little beat down and although i don't condone fighting, i can't wait to see it. i hope Suzie's around as well.

oh well...i've spent more than enough time on this foolishness. do you watch this show...if so let me know what you think.
love and hugs,
Jae

What is Jae Listening to?

hey, hey, hey…I haven’t posted one of these in a while and decided to share what’s been on my playlist lately. its not much, but these are songs that have been on repeat...a lot! let’s get right to it.

Kandi Koated – Kandi – can we say this girl can sang! I love the entire CD, she did a beautiful job and definitely showed she still has it. how cute is “I just know”?!? that is definitely a wedding banger for you. I also love “leave u” and “haven’t loved right”…I can’t get enough of this CD. what do you think?

No Hands – Waka Flocka – yeah…I really just said that. I don’t like the Waka Who dude but Wale’s verse is fire. this should have been a Wale song, i'm sure he could have banged the entire song by myself. .

Speechless – Alicia Keys and Eve – this is a new one that I have heard on the radio yet, but AOL music is rocking it hard. this song is another fresh hit and actually reminds me a little bit summer time…do you feel that way about music and the seasons? this has me looking forward to spring…sun and warm weather!

Moment 4 Life – Nicki Minaj – I love this song especially right now at this point in my life. I have definitely had some milestones lately with beauty and blogging and I just feel like I want this moment-the positive and happy part of it to stick around. good one Nicki…good one!

Grenade - Bruno Mars - This is my jam *in my NuNu voice from ATL*, its such a powerful song and can describe someone in the wrong situation. It kind of crappy to be so in love with someone who isn't in love with you. I hope non of you are in this situation, if so really think if its heathly and start to make your way out of it.

10 seconds - Jazmine Sullivan - OK...first she's busting out windows and now she's holding bammas hostage. Can we say Jazzy might be crazy!?!...I know dudes are really upset with her now. The song is great as well as her voice she's a true talent.

well...i will leave you with this short list of my favorites right now. make sure to share some of yours when you get a chance.

happy reading and singing!
Jae

The Day Has Come!

I wanted to wish all of my readers a very Happy New Years with lots more to come! I hope you enjoyed whatever it was you found yourself doing at midnight…myself, I was actually watching TV barely keeping my eyes open.

As for the item everyone’s talking about *whispers* resolutions-I don’t have any. I stopped making them years and was just thankful for my family and friends and all the blessings yet to come. I do have things I want to do this year such as continue to grow my craft of makeup, start making live tutorials on YouTube, help my team at work further their growth, and much much more. I’ve already surrounded my personal life with positive people and will continue that next year. Simply put-I want to be better and do better than I did in 2010! I hope all of your are able to do what makes you happy this year as well. I wish you all the best, lets have a great year and grow together!

Love and Hugs,

LadybugB
